Tidewater started with a simple observation about Vancouver: this is a city with genuinely great taste — in coffee, in food, in buildings — that somehow still tolerates the saddest object in every lobby. The humming beige machine. The coil that eats your toonie. The row of sun-faded chip bags nobody has wanted since 2019.

The technology to do better already exists. AI-powered smart stores — tap to open, grab what you want, charged automatically — have transformed unattended retail in cities across North America. What the Lower Mainland was missing was an operator who cared as much about how these stores look and feel in a space as how they perform.

So that’s what Tidewater is: a Vancouver-founded, design-first operator of smart coolers, snack stores and micro markets. We choose cabinets that belong in good interiors, curate shelves like a corner grocer rather than a distributor, and service everything ourselves — locally, accountably, with live telemetry keeping us honest.

We’re at the founding stage, and we’re choosing our first locations deliberately. If you manage a space in Metro Vancouver and share the belief that it deserves better than a vending machine, we’d like to meet it.
